Check out the mouth watering sneak preview video of some new comers joining Taste of Petaluma at the end of this article.
Mention the words “budget your calories” in Petaluma on Saturday August 22nd and you might find yourself wishing you ate your words because the 10th annual Taste of Petaluma (TOP) will be in full swing!
Featuring 90 participating restaurants and local vendors in 47 locations, the festival aims to celebrate the authentic nature of Petaluma Eats while also fundraising money to support the local and professional non-profit Cinnabar Theater.
Laura Sunday (aka Queen Cuisine), event organizer of the Taste of Petaluma, says TOP is a “culinary journey of our historic downtown Petaluma showing off restaurants, galleries, and shops. The town never looks better on that day.”
At a Mini Taste of Petaluma, I had the chance to preview some of the good eats that will be featured at the event, including samples from new Petaluma restaurants Sonoma Spice Queen and Sauced BBQ & Spirits, in addition to Bistro 100. Here are sneak previews and backgrounds on these three amazing venues participating in this weekend’s celebration.

If you haven’t heard of, or participated before, here are some highlights from last year: Video: 2014 Taste of #Petaluma a Great Success
Also you never know when there may be an unexpected BONUS! Last year actor Adrian Grenier made an appearance which led to us interviewing him. This interview was read and shared by thousands on social media Positively #Petaluma Interview With Actor Adrian Grenier. Why is that important? He mentioned the restaurants in Petaluma he likes to eat at. Our site got tons of clicks on the restaurants’ websites. This is better than advertising. It’s social envy of your restaurant. Maybe your business too can score an unexpected bonus this year.
Petaluma is becoming the culinary destination (see our post Video: KRON 4 News #Petaluma a Culinary Destination). When it comes to food, beer and wine there is no better place to be than Petaluma. It’s the very reason we started a segment on our website called Petaluma Eats! This event is a culinary journey around downtown showcasing Petaluma’s finest food, beer and wine.

An August 23 Facebook post by Adrian Grenier caused a big stir in Petaluma. His post garnered over 1000 “Likes” and several comments and shares by Petalumans. His status showed him with friends at our annual Taste of Petaluma with comment “Rockin’ #TasteOfPetaluma w/@catatomic @rbcsavage awesome delicious day”. This caused Positively Petaluma to want to find out more and share his experience here.
Adrian Grenier visited our town and attended our annual event while visiting family friends. The following interview was completed while Adrian was in Greece and would not have been possible without the help of Laura Sunday who hosted Adrian during his stay in Petaluma. Adrian is an actor, producer, director and musician most notable playing the lead role of Vincent Chase in the Emmy nominated HBO original series Entourage. In this interview Adrian tells us about his experience here in Petaluma and a documentary he is working on.
Wayne: You played the role of Anne Hathaway’s boyfriend Nate who was a chef in the movie Devil Wears Prada. Petaluma has a lot of talented chefs and has quickly become a culinary destination according to a recent KRON 4 and Yelp report. You had the opportunity to experience our Taste of Petaluma. Which part of the culinary and craft spirits experience did you like best? Food, beer or the wine?
Adrian: All three. I love a festival that celebrates locally grown goods. But it’s not all about the food, if it was we’d all be shuffling around eating silently. An event like this is all about friends coming together. Food is a big part of my life. My mother has a great devotion to good tasting things. I like to think I surround myself with people who care about what they eat. It makes life more enjoyable.
Today the streets of Petaluma were bustling with thousands of locals and visitors for the 2014 Taste of Petaluma. Almost everywhere you walked in the downtown you really did experience the best tastes of Petaluma restaurants. What is interesting about this event is that it seems the entire town is involved. For example you can walk into a beauty supply store like Blush and you will find sliders from Palm Grill and wine from a local vineyard. I can’t remember when I have seen so many different bands playing in every nook and cranny in town. There were thousands of people walking the streets and enjoying the food and entertainment. A side benefit to everyone enjoying their time was money to benefit the Cinnabar Theater in Petaluma.
Here is a short video of this event so you can see some of the highlights.
Last night was a beautiful evening in Petaluma. We had the pleasure of dining at Rosso Pizzeria & Mozzarella Bar. The service is amazing and the food is excellent. Also there is no corkage fee when you bring your own wine. We took advantage of this and brought our favorite bottle of Rombauer Chardonnay. We enjoyed the salad and the Margherita pizza which is made with local ingredients including McEvoy Ranch extra virgin olive oil. The theater district was bustling full of participants from the days 2014 Great Petaluma Treasure Hunt. We also enjoyed stops at Seared Restaurant and finished the evening out at Petaluma Taps with the incredible view of the river while enjoying a cold Petaluma Hills IPA.
I guess it was fitting to find a report this morning from KRON 4 News weekend anchor Marty Gonzalez who states that Petaluma has grown from a small quiet town to a culinary destination. Yelps north bay community manager Kevin Blum starts off talking about Rosso Pizzeria & Mozzarella Bar. He goes on to tell about our other fantastic venues including Lagunitas Brewing Company, Lombardi’s Gourmet Deli, Central Market, and Powell’s Sweet Shoppe. But Kevin says if you want to dive deep into the Petaluma culinary experience he recommends the Taste of Petaluma which is the best venue to journey through the Petaluma culinary experience on Saturday August 23, 2014 from 11:30AM to 4:00PM.
Here is the video from this recently released report.
