The Sages of Petaluma have invited George Baur, the author of “The Roads to Petaluma” to be the guest presenter at their next monthly meeting: Wednesday, January 27th, at the Petaluma Historical Museum from 10:30 a.m. to Noon. Anyone interested in learning more about living, working, and going to school in the earlier days of Petaluma is welcomed to attend.
George Baur, a native Petaluma, was born at the old Petaluma General Hospital on 6th Street, after WWI was over (1944).
Published in 2015, “The Roads to Petaluma” captures the stories of three German immigrants: George’s uncle Chris, his father Adam, and his mother Marie. The book is their story of coming to Petaluma, U.S.A. in the early 1900s, as well as memories growing up on a chicken ranch in Petaluma.
In addition to his family’s early history and involvement into Petaluma, the book is rich with historical photographs and illustrations gathered from the Sonoma County Library, the Petaluma Historical Library & Museum, as well as the personal collections of family and friends.
