The very first billboard with Clo was the comic standing out in the field in front of an Oak tree with the slogan, “Outstanding in Her Field”. This same caricature of a cow continues to win International Billboard Awards. The well-known, beloved Clo, the cow, adorns Clover Stornetta billboards still today as well as on their big and small trucks. Something few people are aware of is that their billboard collections are bundled in a book called, The Wholly Cow, retrospective of the billboards over a thirty-one year span. The proceeds of book sales goes to the Sonoma County Community Foundation. Also check out second volume Wholly Cow II by Anne Vernon 2010; 40 years of Clo, The Cow. Every Petaluman should have these books on their coffee tables – as they are great talking pieces. You can click on the book titles above to purchase them on Amazon.
