- Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) public charities with a registered San Francisco Bay Area office who have been in operation for three (3) or more years with an operating budget (expenses) of $100,000 or more.
- Projects must be fully funded (excluding the Playmaker grant) and be able to implemented within 90 days.
- Strong preference will be given to applicants who are physically located in the community they serve.

Application periods
There are four (4) Playmaker Grant Program application periods:
- May 5-31, 2015
- August 4-31, 2015
- November 3-30, 2015
Organizations may apply in more than one period, however an organization may receive only one (1) Playmaker grant. Applications to other 50 Fund grant programs (e.g. Game Changers) does not preclude applying to the Playmaker Grant Program.
