Figone’s enthusiasm for cooking knows no bounds and, as she says, she is a “cook-a-holic.” She loves cooking and sharing her food with others but hates making the same dish more than once. Figone explains, “As long as I have people to eat my food I keep cooking and cooking and cooking nonstop. So I think that’s what I love most—sharing my food with people.”
As another way to share her food, Figone will be releasing a cookbook of 30 original recipes locally this spring. There is no release date yet but we can look forward to a variety of recipes including gluten-free, desserts, entrées, soups, and healthy-eating. Additionally, there may also be a volume two following shortly, as many people have requested recipes that are not in volume one. In addition to her cookbook, more recipes and demonstrations can be found on Figone’s website and YouTube cooking show Cooking with Laurie.

Local foods and farms are important to Figone, so she buys mostly local products. After returning from her time in Scotland, during which she visited London and Paris as well, Figone recalls thinking that Sonoma County still has the best food she has tasted so far. “People … want to have their food local,” said Figone, “There are so many local farmers markets and … so that’s what I think is so wonderful about Sonoma County honestly.”
