2 Elderly Ladies Save 87 y.o. Wheelchair Bound Woman From Fire

Yesterday evening Petaluma360.com YouTube Channel published this video and related article“Fire causes extensive damage to Petaluma home [on Melvin Street] w/video”. In this video Petaluma Fire Department Battalion Chief tells what happened.

In the article one of the victims said, “We all fell to the floor trying to move her, but we did it,” who added that they were surprised at how fast the fire started.

Fortunately the Fire Dept. was just a few blocks away when the fire started and were there almost immediately, and all parties were not hurt.  Unfortunately the house has major damage.

What a courageous effort by the two ladies to act quickly enough and together to drug the 87 y.o. woman out of the house, and the third acting quickly to run out of the home to call 911.

Fortunately they were no injuries to people or the fireman.  Kudos for our Petaluma Fire Department for responding quickly to extinguish this fire before causing any more damage to neighboring homes and people.

 

The Best Video Compilation Of #Petaluma Little League World Series

We often run into Petaluma Little League World Series videos. Over the last year we noticed that a great many of the videos covering our hometown team are very bad in quality. We compiled what we think are the best quality videos available on the internet and put them right here in one place. Our Petaluma National team was the first to ever be in a Little League World series according to Little Leagues article Petaluma (Calif.) National Little League Earns First Berth in Little League Baseball World Series as West Region Champions.

Little League has sectioned off Petaluma into three leagues or zones: Petaluma American (northeast); Petaluma Valley (southeast); and Petaluma National (west of highway 101).  Petaluma National only represents about 1/3 of our city’s very finest baseball players.  We wonder what could happen if we were able to combine talent from each of these leagues to make one All-star team to have a true representation of the baseball talent our city produces.  We can only guess Japan would have their work cut out to beat a team like that. In 2012 under great odds our small Petaluma all-star team made it to the Little League World Series finishing #1 in the state, #2 in the country, and #3 in the WORLD.

#Petaluma’s CamelBak is one of the Healthiest Companies to Work For in America

GREATIST focuses on posts about making healthier choices with a theme to feel good, happy and healthy.  On October 30th they posted a list of The 44 Healthiest Companies to work for in America.  We picked this up in our searches and found that Petaluma’s CamelBak made the list.

Greatlist.com reports the following:

We consider CamelBak the capital of Hydration Nation—thanks to their water bottles, filters, and hydration packs—so it’s no surprise that they encourage their 138 employees to keep the H2O coming. Just one part of their “Bak to Health” program, a yearly challenge where employees earn points for exercise, hydration, and healthy nutrition. Apart from this friendly competition, day-to-day culture encourages the healthy outdoor living that CamelBak’s products champion. In 2013 Camelbak was listed on Outside Magazine’s website Online article on the 100 Best Places To Work which sites that their office is located by a 165-acre wetlands park, which features a two-mile circular trail and a one-mile trail ideal for running and biking.  Also adds that their culture provides for a stress management or meditation class through their Bak to Health wellness program.

Update February 14, 2015, PCA Releases 2014 Veteran’s Day Parade Video

Positively Petaluma would like to thank our men and woman in the United States armed services, we salute you! By sharing the following information we would like to honor of our veterans and the memory of our fallen soldiers.  Petaluma in the last year was named The Purple Heart city and our veterans were saluted in pre-Memorial Day Ceremony in May. Each year Petaluma’s Veterans Day parade provides for the best venue for families from all over to celebrate and remember the members of our military. Freedom is not free and many of our vets have paid the ultimate sacrifice for us so we can enjoy the freedoms we often take for granted.

Breaking News: #Petaluma #1 Most Caring City in America

In a Movoto Real Estate Blog, they ask if you are searching for Pleasantville? Well, they couldn’t guarantee that, but they think their pick for the Top 10 Cities will certainly welcome you with open arms.

Here is a gallery of the top 10.

Movoto used several sources to determine the Top 10 and goes on to say this about Petaluma:

“Okay, I am not making this up: many scenes from the movie “Pleasantville” were actually filmed in Petaluma, specifically, at the intersection of Petaluma Blvd. and Western Avenue.

It doesn’t just look like a city so caring that it must be fictional either, it actually is. It’s almost too good to be true. Just think about this: out of 140 cities in the U.S., Petaluma had the 12th lowest number of crimes. It also had the sixth highest number of counselors and mental health professionals per capita, and was among the top 30 for its percentage of residents who carpool.

It’s really no wonder this Sonoma-Marin Fair-hosting, Butter and Egg Days Parade-celebrating, Little League World Series-playing small city made the top of our list.”

New York Life Acquires #Petaluma Land – Cader Commerce Center

On October 31, 2014 The Registry reported New York Life Acquires Land for Industrial Development in Petaluma on October 31, 2014 by the publisher in Commercial, Finance, INDUSTRY news.  Yesterday North Bay Business Journal reports Petaluma industrial buildings planned By Jeff Quakenbush, Business Journal Staff Reporter.

The Registry indicates that New York Life Real Estate Investors has paid around $6 million to acquire 20 acres of land for development. The article goes on to say:

“New York Life believes there is a strong demand for light industrial space not currently met in Petaluma. “We see that the market demographics are very strong for new development. For tenants looking for space larger than 50,000 square feet, there are very limited options. For light industrial space, current vacancy is around 8 percent. Our development will be the first new industrial development in Petaluma since 2001,” said Brian Seaman, a senior director with New York Life.”

The development is being called the Cader Commerce Center. It is located at 1466 to 1490 Cader Lane in Petaluma. The project will involve the development of 250,000 square feet of industrial space over four buildings.

We didn’t see this report elsewhere, so we felt it was important to share for its historical significance of our great city. On October 23 the Jweekly.com wrote and article announcing the Jewish community of Petaluma celebrates 150 years by shoshana hebshi , j. correspondent.  The congregation started in Petaluma in October 22, 1864, and they were incorporated as Congregation Society B’nai Israel by the state in 1871.

During our famed “Egg Basket of the World” in 30’s and 40s thousands of chicken farmers were jewish farming families. More came from Russia after WWI in postwar years. The Petaluma Jewish Community Center was dedicated on 740 Western Ave near the downtown in 1925.
