There will be four People’s Choice Awards given for different categories namely, the Meat Chili, Vegetarian Chili, Salsa, and Beer. Distinguished judges (Including Positively Petaluma) appear each year awarding the judges Choice for the various divisions such as Best Restaurant, service Organization, Business, Vegetarian Chili, Salsa, Beer, Individuals as well as an overall Grand Champion.
New this year! The Great Petaluma Chili Cookoff is now a qualifying event for the World Food Championships (thanks to our World Dessert Champ Laurie Figone). What that means is this year’s Grand Champion winner will receive Golden Tickets to enter the 2015 World Food Championships in Florida AND Positively Petaluma will also feature the Grand Champion in an article.
Obviously, there are also People’s Choice awards, thus making this one of the best event and festival Petaluma has to offer. Locals and visitors all have an equal opportunity to enter in the challenge as well as the opportunity to decide and vote on the flavors and tastes of their individual choice.
Adding to the fun of the event, more than just food and drinks, the best chili and salsa display, most spirited teams, best booth decorations, best team costumes, and all other interesting contests that spurs the imagination and attention of participants and festival visitors.
