His new comic struck a nerve for many and immediately his facebook posts reached hundreds of thousands military personnel (today it is at 297,170 Likes).  So much so that Marine Corps top brass turn to him to communicate with active duty-troops.   In the article it quotes a Staff Sergeant Mark Fayloga who runs the Corps social media “You can’t ignore his kind of impact.”  His website indicates that this high standing led to the comic strip being published weekly in the Marine Corps Times newspaper, a nationally circulated paper and probably the largest within the military.  In a Marine Corp Times article on Jul 14, 2013, Terminal Lance creator releases new book of exclusive strips calls Terminal Lance virally popular and announced his e-book “Head Call”.

Last year Max started a Kickstarter to fund a new novel “The White Donkey” with a goal of $20,000, a goal that would be met within 13 hours.  Now with almost 3000 backers he has raised $162,681 and plans to use that money on additional projects.

  1. What a delightful story! And you’re right, I didn’t know about him so I’m glad you shared this. Once again I’m blown away by the type of people who live in our community and their very varied occupations and interests!

    Thank you Max for your service to our country…and wow what a ripple affect you have had! Laughter is healing and our military personnel whether (current or past) could always use some of that funny medicine!
