Are you tired of constant mantra of negative news from our traditional news sources?  That’s exactly why we created The Petaluma Magazine – something that is a departure from the status quo. We know there are a lot of great things going on in our city – It’s just not reported. And people have a greater tendency to share and retweet negative information over positive information in the social media streams. Our magazine is a collection of all things that are positive about our great city and content we find from several traditional and social media sources through sophisticated search algorithms.

Each week we choose a cover photo from the Positively Petaluma Flickr page we call Photo Fridays.  So you or any photographer can join the our Flickr group and submit photos you wish to be considered for the front page.  The photo below is this weeks cover photo.  Each photo is also shared on our Pinterest page Cover Photo album.

Every few weeks on Sunday we also share of list of the articles that were posted in the Petaluma Magazine called The Second Look.  The header photo of The Second Look is a picture of a chicken who gave me a second look while taking his photo at Tolay Lake Regional Park.

Positively Petaluma Interviews:  If our local news is focused on producing negative news we like to offset that with creating positive news. Our format is doing interviews about Petaluma and the people in it rather than writing an article about someone.  This way you get the information is coming right from the source – or in Petaluma we my say the horse’s mouth. This is much better than an article because the author cannot insert his/her opinion or twist the information to satisfy a purpose or agenda.   Also we only interview individuals we find interesting in our searches for information that have not been highlighted elsewhere in the local news. Here is a sample of some of the interviews we have done.

  1. I’ve been following Positively Petaluma on Facebook on and off for a bit, but today was the first time I’ve truly delved into what you’ve created here.

This is AWESOMENESS to the 10th degree! What a brill idea to pull all this together and focus on just the positive aspects of our incredible community.

No doubt this has taken a lot of time to put together and maintain. Please accept my most sincere appreciation for your efforts. We are blessed to have this incredible resource.

    1. Thank you very much for your comment Anastasia. What you wrote is exactly what we are going for. We created this because we could not find any other source like it. Thank you for delving in, discovering, and sharing what you found. My best.
